Speedball transparent base

This base is used in screen printing in general, to make the ink more fluid.

When we work with screen printing applied to ceramics, we must use underglazes, as their particles are extremely small and allow this ink to pass through the mesh well. To learn more about the particularities of this paint, you can check the guides.

Regarding this product: in summer the paint will dry faster than in winter. This causes the mesh to become clogged with dried ink after 2 or 3 prints. To prevent the ink from drying too quickly, we can add a screen printing medium to the ink, like this transparent base from Speedball, for example. Other bases with the same function will serve the same purpose, I imagine.

Regarding quantity, we added more or less 1 part of medium to 4 parts of underglaze. This medium will make the paint more liquid. We may have to adjust its consistency again (by letting it dry more or adding AC310). This base does not change the color of the underglaze nor does anything strange happen during cooking.
