Carbon paper
Through this process we can transfer a drawing to a surface , in order to proceed with painting or decoration based on that drawing. This drawing is temporary, just like drawing directly with a common graphite pencil; The lines will disappear in the firing, they are only used to aid painting or decoration.
We use carbon paper to copy a design onto a dry or bisqued surface. We place a sheet of carbon paper on the piece and place the design we want to draw on it. When passing the pencil over the drawing , the same lines are transposed onto the drawing, due to the carbon paper. This is the simplest and most common method for transferring an image, however we can only apply it on a dry or almost dry surface (even if it has already been painted with engobes) or a bisqued surface.
It is worth bearing in mind that this ink will disappear during cooking; It only serves to transfer a guide drawing that we can then paint. Super practical!
